ABOUT DR. BHUPENDRA M. RAJPURA, MD

Nashville Psychiatry
Dr. Bhupendra M. Rajpura, MD

I graduated from the B. J. Medical College, in Ahmedabad, India and then continued my training in psychiatry at Meharry Medical College in General Adult Psychiatry followed by Fellowship Training in Geriatric Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine. I am certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and hold certification in General Adult as well as Geriatric Psychiatry.

After serving as a medical director of a geriatric psychiatry unit at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, I am now an outpatient psychiatrist practicing in my own clinic, Center for Adult & Geriatric Psychiatry with two offices in Middle Tennessee area, in Nashville and in Dickson.

In addition to private practice, I am a psychiatric physician advisor for Health Springs, Humana, Magellan Behavioral health, Ascend Management etc. I have been a private practicing psychiatrist in Nashville for 15 yrs.

We believe in treating patients when they need to be treated and not when it is convenient to practice. Hence we see all new referrals *WITHIN ONE WEEK OF CONTACTING US and requesting services. We also see clients at scheduled appointment time and there is no undue delay in being seen by MD. This is because we believe that your time is important as ours. We provide evaluation and treatment in the following areas: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), clinical depression, manic depressive or bipolar mood disorders, anxiety disorders such as panic disorder or excessive worrying, substance abuse, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, memory problems and older adult anxiety, depression or psychosis, and family conflicts. We also provide Competency Evaluation for older adults.

I believe that it is important for you to have time to talk with your physician and that there is more to treatment then just prescribing medications. That is why we recommend therapy and medication management. There are many misconceptions about seeing a psychiatrist, and there can be apprehension. We make every possible effort to make it comfortable for you, right from the registration to the completion of assessment. I believe that each individual is unique and so is plan of care.

Our goal is to help our patients to deal and cope with their struggles through a combination of education, individual therapy, and judicious use of medication as indicated, if it will improve the patient's quality of life, enabling our patients to live productive, engaged and happy lives. When medications are indicated we prefer to use the lowest dose possible to treat the symptoms, but enough to be effective.

Our long term goal with everyone is symptom remission, with or without medication. We believe that through education, therapy, counseling, and sometimes medication everyone can return to their previous level of functioning and enjoy life to the fullest.
